| Standing on the pathway between fountain of nations and mouse gear, with the fountain to your right and the shop to your left, you will see two drinking fountains ahead of you. take a drink and listen closely. something is going on in there! spaceship earth is an astonishing structure in many ways, including the fact it was designed with a runoff system that prevents water from reaching the ground when it rains. each panel funnels water away from the surface, eventually emptying into the world showcase lagoon. there are many peaceful elements in epcot, but on of the most mesmerizing can be found in japan. on the right of the pavilion, you'll hear the tinkling, clacking, flowing sound of a shishi odoshi, or water hammer (usually displayed only in warmer months). as with all things japanese, it is a practical item made beautiful, full of symbolism, and soothing to the soul. from a purely functional standpoint, however, they were originally used to scare deer out of the rice paddies. | |

| i love this one! curious about which bodies of water were included in the international ceremony of the waters? the water came from the adriatic sea, the arctic ocean, the bodense (which represents switzerland, germany, and austria), the caribbean sea, the cauca river in columbia, the cho jong yak soo (an underground river in korea), a sample of god's water from the ise shrine near osaka, harrison cave water from barbados, lake geneva, lake inari in finland, the manzanares river in spain, the meuse river (which runs through france, belgium, and the netherlands), mineral springs water of sidi ali in morocco, the mississippi and nile rivers, the philippine sea, the river thames, the sea of japan, the seine, senegambia river, tivoli gardens lake in denmark, trevi fountain, xochimilco in mexico city, the yangtze river, and zeplin dam in the former czechoslovakia. | |

| haha i'd probably do it on purpose... 'oh no...i spilled the water we've taken from the sea of japan...oh darn...i guess we'll have to go back...*snickersnicker*...'
World showcase -- The frontage of each country is exactly the same, as is the height of their tallest feature (i.e., mountains in Canada, Eiffel tower, etc.). Some spread out inside more than others, but the frontage on the walkway is the same. They wanted to make sure everyone was equal—forced perspective is what makes some look taller.
Located in the central plaza of the Italy pavilion, known as the "Plaza del Teatro," you can find the "Fontana de Nettuno." This fountain contains the image of Neptune, the God of the Sea, and was inspired by Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Fountain of Trevi, located in Rome, Italy. The original famous fountain is often recognized as having been seen in Federico Fellini's classic film, "La Dolce Vita." | |
