donald duck

1.) According to the cartoon "Donald Gets Drafted" (1942), Donald's full name is Donald Fauntleroy Duck (his middle name appears to be a reference to his sailor hat, which was a common accessory for Fauntleroy suits).

2.) Donald's father is Quackmore Duck, his mother is Hortense McDuck and his twin sister is Della Thelma Duck.

3.) One of Donald's great accomplishments was building his own car from spare parts.... a 1934 Belchfire Runabout. It had license plate number 313. While Donald did on occasion drive other cars, this one would stay with him throughout the years constantly breaking down.

4.) During World War 2, Donald tried to do his patriotic duty by joining the army, however he was unable to pass the physical. According to the army, Donald had flat feet and an inability to distinguish between the colors green and blue.

5.) Donald Duck was named an honorary alumnus of the University of Oregon.

Stuff like this just makes me wish Disney would do more with the Fab 5, it's a crime that we get characters like Stitch thrown at us to the point where we stop caring for them, but the originals are ignored. Like chew on this, the last time Mickey was seen in theaters was 9 years ago with Fantasia 2000.

maybe D23 members will push them a bit at bringing the original characters back to the front of the line. because i'm sure the majority are bigger fans of mickey and donald rather than stitch or HSM *gags self with a spoon*

it's definitely for the bigger fans. i don't see many kids being interested in oldschool donald comics or parents paying 75.00 for a membership unless it means a lot to them. it's for the more mature fans me thinks. ..i haven't come across (then again i haven't looked yet) one, but i'm sure there's a spot somewhere where the members are coming forth with advice or comments on disney in general. i wonder if any have mentioned wanting to see more of the fab 5?

Not only the fab 5 need to be seen again, but there are a lot of smaller more obscure characters that they could use. Though I think a lot of people whine about this, but we'll see if they go to see The Princess and the Frog to help 2D return. That movie needs to be huge for this kind of thing to happen.

I remember in one of the early episodes of WDW Radio, Lou had Charles Ridgeway, who wrote a book called Spinning Disney's World and he used to be Disney's press agent. Well he talked about how in the Magic Kingdom for one of Donald's birthdays they got a bunch of baby ducks. Well with ducks to train them you have to do it from when they're babies, so they trained the ducks to wear birthday hats and walk down Main Street.

haha oh my gosh that's the cutest thing ever. i'd get into major trouble though because i'd try to steal them all. then you would get mad at me for not letting you shower because that is where i would let them swim. =\

kinda reminds me of when i was little and how every easter my dad would buy me these little baby chicks that were dyed different colors like pink or green, haha. soo cute.
