Pay attention to the portraits in the HM attic scene. In each successive picture, "Constance" is wearing one additional pearl necklace. 5 total; one for each husband.

big thunder mountain: ride at night and you'll see a party in progress in the second-floor window of the saloon.

tony's town square, named for the restaurant where lady and the tramp enjoyed their romantic spaghetti dinner, hold two charming secrets. you will find a tribute to tramp's love for his beautiful lady carved into the pavement to the left of the stairs, and if you go inside and walk to the back of the restaurant, you will find them enjoying a quiet meal outside the back window. day dreaming

pick up the wall-mounted telephone in the general store on main street, next to the cash register near the front. when you hol the receiver up to your ear, you will hear a conversation between the upstairs resident and her daughter. stay on the line long enough and you will hear the nosy neighbor listening in and giving her thoughts on the discussion!

gold star the many adventures of winnie the pooh: this attraction took over the location of the beloved mr. toad's wild ride. look for the picture of mr. toad handing owl the deed to his house.

gold star magic carpets of aladdin: beware of the spitting camels!

gold star notice the entire length of main street is bordered by red pavement, as if the red carpet has been rolled out for you. the fact is, when kodak was consulted, they determined a particular shade of red enhaces guests photographs, especially in direct contrast to the green of the grass.

gold star every good hometown america has its central park with benches for the townsfolk to relax and enjoy a perfect afternoon. sit down on the bench with goofy, located in front of city hall, and he may engage you in conversation.

gold star when you reach the far side of the central hub (the area in front of cinderella castle which the pathways leading to six of the park's seven lands originate) past the partners statue of walt and mickey, turn around and notice how the pavement slopes gently upward from town square to cinderella castle. fantasyland is actually on the "second floor," while beneath your feet, on the real "first floor," are the utilidors, the tunnels, offices, and functional facilities of the park. walt disney world imagineers could nto dig a basement in orlando as they did at disneyland in california because the water table in florida is too high.

gold star the earth used to create the second floor came from what is now seven seas lagoon, in front of the magic kingdom. the remainder of the magic kingdom is also raised, with the exception of mickey's toontown, which has no utilidors below it. why? because it was the last land to be built and wasn't there when the park opened.

gold star try to arrive thirty minutes before the posted opening time at magic kingdom so you are among the first to enter the park. when guests are allowed into the various lands at rope-drop, walk directly through cinderella castle into fantastland, to tinker bell's treasures (on your left). the first person to enter will be allowed to "awaken tinker bell" by releasing her from a wooden box on a shelf behind the cashier's till, near the back of the shop.

gold star if you are not among the first to visit, you can still see the pixie dust trail she leaves as she flies around the shop throughout the day. for a special view of the precocious pixie, take a look in the first keyhole in the sewing drawer next to the door at the front of the shop.

^^ this sounds so cute! i wouldn't want to do it myself, i'd rather save the actual thing for one of the kids, but i'd wanna see it happen, haha. i do wanna take a peek in the keyhole that's mentioned though.

gold star the haunted mansion the mansion itself is a fascinating structure, steeped in murder, mystery, snd just a bit of whimsy, right to the rooftop. do the ornamental stone pieces along the roofline look oddly familiar to you? upon closer inspection, you'll notice they look a lot like rooks, pawns, kings and queens. claude coats, creator of the haunted mansion's architecture, was said to be a true chess buff, so perhaps he put his signature on the roof. disney officially insists those are not chess pieces, but now you have seen them, so you be the judge!

pirates of the caribbean - did you know that when you exit potc, you can make out distinct footprints of peg-legged davy jones?

gold star if anyone had been doing some investigation into who was mysteriously buying up vast acreages of land in central florida, they would have found the chairman of each of the dummy companies was a certain mr. m. mouse! the whole secretive operation was given the codename project x by walt. it was finally brought to light by a reporter from the orlando sentinel who flew to los angeles to interview walt and discovered he had an intimate knowledge of all the property taxes of the orlando area. when the story broke, the cost of the land in the surrounding area skyrocketed from $180 per acre to more than $1,000 per acre. the last few acres walt purchased cost $80,000 each.

gold star contrary to one of the great urban myths, marilyn monroe was not the inspiration for the curvy character tinker bell in the 1953 disney movie, peter pan. margaret kerry, actor, dancer, and voice talent, was the real reference model for the fairy, although she was not listed in the movie's credits. but there was more to it than that. margaret explains that when creating the beguiling little pixie with anmator marc davis and co-director gerry geronimi, she asked them, "'is there any way that you want me to play her? do you want me to play her aloof? is she funny, is she a clown? what is she?' marc davis told me, we like your personality. we just want you to be you.' so when you see tinker bell, that's exactly me. i could put in almost anything i wanted to for tinker bell to make her come alive." she adds, "the first thing they asked me to do was the famous scene where i land on the looking glass. i had made up my mind i would play tinker bell as id she were about 12 years old and the whole world was her oyster. she had never seen most things that she was about to see, and i figured that she had never seen a looking glass. why would she? why would they have that on neverland? so i played it looking at myself, and although they put it down that she's a preening prixie, actually i played it as if she's saying, 'oh, is that what i look like! oh!' all except my hips. i was very unhappy with the size of my hips, so that's why tinker bell stomps off."

pirates of the caribbean - Huhhh, that's cool. I can picture the footsteps, but must have overlooked the peg leg! Can't wait to see that!

buying land - Haha, that's awesome. I bet people were thinking like, "Wow, these sure are weird names!". Walt was such a genius.

Did you know that there is a little hat shop right beside Tony's Town Square restaurant?

We all know the obvious Lady and the Tramp movie tie-ins to this famous Main Street eatery, but have you ever looked closely at the sign for the hat shoppe next door?

It's a giant hat box! Don't think that this is purely by chance. Do you remember, from the movie, that Lady was presented to her Mistress (by her Master) in a big hatbox?

...and to carry things even further, did you know that this bit of movie history was based on real life?

Yes--Walt presented his wife Lillian with a chow puppy inside a hat box!

I need to work on that list of movies to watch before the trip, think I'll do that this weekend. I don't remember that at all, been like 10-15 years since I've seen Lady and the Tramp.

haha it so was not! completely innocent i tell you! angel

pink heart The MK Parking Lot only 6 of the 7 dwarfs have a lot named after them! There is Sleepy, Dopey, Happy, Grumpy, Bashful, and Sneezy. No Doc! Why no Doc? Because while naming the sections in the world's 3rd largest parking lot, the designers were afraid people might get the Boat Dock and the Parking Lot "Doc" confused.

pink heart Sit in the outer edge of the Plaza restaurant...basically look at the castle, find the wire that goes from the castle down to the restaurant rooftop on the right, and go get a seat under it. TinkerBell will fly down that wire and right over the top of your heads!

what do they mean by this baby? how do they make that happen?
